Am I beautiful or ugly? How attractive am I? Am I pretty? Am I sexy? These are questions which millions of women around the world ask themselves at some point in their lives. I have asked myself these sorts of questions in the past, and I am not ashamed to admit it. Sure, if you have been blessed with awesome genetics, you may see questions like these as a sign of insecurity. The truth is, it has nothing to do with insecurity.
It is only natural for women and also men to want to look good. We have a deep-rooted desire to look attractive. Even women, who have little to no interest in romance, still want to look attractive. I’m not a psychologist, or any other sort of medical professional, so I have no idea why we have such a strong desire to look beautiful, but we do.
Is it a fundamental part of evolution? Is it because a beautiful woman will find it easier to attract a fit and strong male for the purpose of reproduction? Or, is our desire to look beautiful simply the result of social conditioning virtually from the day we are born? I mean, most of us grow up thinking and believing that we need to look a certain way. From as far back as we can remember, a huge amount of emphasis is put on how we look and/or how we should look, so who can blame us for wanting to look beautiful?
Before we look at 5 proven ways to make ourselves look good and improve self-esteem, I just want to touch on a few other things first. When people ask, “Am I beautiful or ugly,” it could be nothing more than curiosity, but it could also be due to something more serious.
Self-Confidence vs. Self-Esteem
It is often said that beauty can significantly boost one’s self-confidence. It is also often said that beauty can significantly boost one’s self-esteem. The problem is that many people actually believe that self-confidence and self-esteem are one and the same thing, but actually they are not. Most celebrities, for example, are overflowing with self-confidence, but many may struggle with low self-esteem.
Simply put, self-confidence comes from knowing that you are good at what you do. Self-esteem, on the other hand, comes from being able to feel good about yourself. I don’t want to delve too deeply into this right now, but if you want to read more about self-confidence vs. self-esteem, there’s a good article that you can read on the Psychology Today website.
If you ask me, I would say that low self-esteem is far more dangerous than a shortage of self-confidence. If you don’t feel confident doing something, you can just find something else that you can do with a higher degree of confidence. Low self-esteem, on the other hand, follows you around. It is with you from the minute you wake up, to the moment when you go to sleep. In severe cases, it can and often does lead to things like depression, self-harm, and even suicide.
There are several things that can cause low self-esteem, including the way in which we were raised, the way we were treated at school, and of course, the way we look. Fortunately, if your looks are having a negative impact on your self-esteem, then there are several things you can do to improve your looks. When you look in the mirror and you like what you see, it is a huge boost to your self-esteem.
Am I Beautiful or Ugly?
While this sort of question could be related to a lack of self-esteem, it does not have to be related. As I have said earlier, we all want to look good and feel attractive, especially women. Don’t worry though, men ask themselves the same sort of question all the time, but they tend to use the word “handsome” instead.
Have you ever noticed how people try so hard to be politically correct when it comes to discussing anything that has something to do with beauty? I mean, these days, nobody is overweight, but instead, they are simply big, heavy, or a plus-size. Nobody looks old and wrinkly, but instead, they look mature. You don’t even get bald men anymore these days because nowadays they only have receding hairlines or thinning hair.
When I look in the mirror and I see fine lines and wrinkles starting to appear, I don’t need anyone to tell me that you can hardly see them, or tell me that they are a natural part of growing older. No, I would rather they recommend an excellent anti-wrinkle cream. At the end of the day, your happiness is what counts. If you feel beautiful and you are happy, then that is all that matters.
How attractive am I?
They often say that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and it is mostly true. While one person may think you are incredibly beautiful, the next person may not feel the same way. These days, you can have your facial features analyzed online to determine how beautiful or how pretty you are. The problem with an online face beauty analysis is the fact that it relies on certain basic facial features to determine how beautiful your face is. The results are obtained by measuring things such as the distance between your eyes, the width of your nose, the width of your face, and etc.
There are several online sites that offer a face beauty test, but to be honest, I am not quite sure how I feel about such sites. Sure, if you get a positive result it can feel good, but what happens if you take the test and it tells you that you are ugly? I am sure most people would simply dismiss the result with a shrug or a laugh, but it might not be so funny if you are already struggling with low self-esteem.
I am going to provide a link to a site that offers free face beauty analysis. However, if you have low self-esteem issues, you may want to think twice before you take the test. Also, you need to remember that the software uses set parameters, and test results can be unreliable, unexpected, and possibly not what you were hoping for. If you really want to do the face beauty test I am referring to, you can do so at PrettyScale.com.
In case you are wondering whether or not I have done a face beauty test on the site I have linked to above, the answer is yes, I have. I wanted to know what the software would have to say: am I beautiful or ugly? I am not going to tell you my score, but if I had not been satisfied with it, I would not have included the link above. On a slightly more serious note, remember, if you do the test and you don’t get the results you were hoping for, don’t let it get you down.
What a Face Beauty Test Does Not See
Online face beauty analysis is far from being an exact science. It basically relies only on measurements relating to key facial features. An online face beauty test rarely takes other qualities/features into consideration. They generally don’t recognize things like eyelashes, skin color, lips and etc. Just like the tests don’t recognize some features which can make you look very attractive, they also don’t recognize things like fine lines and wrinkles; blemishes, and etc.
Anyway, if you clicked on the link above, I hope that the results of your test made your day. Nonetheless, let’s move on from all this face beauty analysis stuff, and let’s take a look at some tried and tested things we can all do to improve our appearance, and in turn, our self-esteem as well.
If you are asking yourself, am I beautiful or ugly, then you obviously have your reasons. I don’t know what you reasons are, and I also don’t know if your face is your only concern, or if you are concerned about your whole body. In the next few paragraphs, I am going to discus 5 things that will not only boost your self-esteem, but also make you look and feel more attractive.

The Importance of Good Skin Care
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people between the ages of 18 and 60 years of age require 7 or more hours of sleep each night. From the age of 61 to the age of 64, you need 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night, and once you reach 65, 7 to 8 hours is recommended. Of course, some people may require slightly more or slightly less sleep.
Now, I’m sure most of us have seen people who have not been getting sufficient sleep. Dark circles around their eyes are the first signs we see when they have not been sleeping enough. If they continue going without sufficient sleep, they soon get bags under their eyes, and before long, they start to look way older than they actually are.
Even if you are getting the recommend amount of sleep, you may not be getting quality sleep, and this can have the same effects as insufficient sleep. There is a good reason why people often refer to sleep as “Beauty Sleep.”
The nice thing about getting more sleep is that it is free, and it can make you feel and look great. Don’t forget to wash your face with a mild and natural facial cleanser before going to bed. You will need a good quality facial cleanser that is mild and gentle on your skin, but also capable of effectively removing all traces of grime and/or makeup. It is also a good idea to apply a good quality restorative night cream before going to bed, especially on the area around your eyes.
Okay, before I even mention a single word about weight and/or weight-loss, I need to stress that I have absolutely nothing against people who are overweight or people who are obese. I know exactly how it feels to be overweight, and how difficult it can be to lose weight. So many people assume that if you are overweight, it is purely because you eat too much and/or because you just sit around all day doing nothing. I am definitely not judging anyone, but if you are overweight, losing a few pounds will benefit you in more ways than one.
I know lots of people who are overweight, and nearly all of them are self-conscious about their weight. Of course they don’t all suffer from low self-esteem, but they themselves will admit that they would feel a lot better about themselves if they could lose some weight. I know how they feel because I have been in the same boat.
I am not going to get into the topic of diets right now, but please, if you are overweight or obese, try your best to shed a few pounds. You will be doing your health a big favor, and you will be doing your self-esteem an even bigger favor.
Skin imperfections are one of the main reasons why a person would ask, am I beautiful or ugly? These imperfections could be things like acne, acne scarring, or fine lines and wrinkles that come with aging. Of course, the market is awash with creams and lotions that we can use to try and deal with such issues. Some products are seriously good and capable of delivering excellent results, while others are simply a total waste of money.
If we are going to spend money on various skin care products just so we can have better looking skin, shouldn’t we also address the problem from the inside as well? I mean, we know that we need calcium in our diets because calcium is necessary for bone and joint health. We know that foods containing omega-3 fatty oils can benefit your heart and etc. If certain foods can benefit certain organs, then surely certain foods can benefit your skin, which happens to be the biggest organ we have.
It is a well-known fact that a healthy and well-balanced diet can give you clearer looking skin. Forty years ago, numerous studies seemed to indicate that there was no link between diet and acne. These days, more and more health professionals are starting to question this. So, while there is still no proof that acne and diet are related, we do know that there is certainly a link between diet and the overall health of your skin.
If the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles are making you doubt your beauty, then you should seriously consider your current diet. Ideally, you want your diet to include foods that can help stimulate collagen and elastin production. Elastin gives skin elasticity, while collagen allows skin cells to renew themselves and also repair themselves.
There are many different types of food which have been shown to stimulate natural collagen production. Aloe Vera is something many of us associate with things like sunburn and burns. Applying Aloe Vera gel to burns is a home remedy that has been around forever, but not many people realize that you can also get Aloe Vera extract that is meant to be taken orally.
How would you feel if I told you that studies have shown that Aloe Vera supplements can dramatically increase hyaluronic acid and collagen production in the body? In one study, the amount of hyaluronic acid and collagen production almost doubled in the participants who were given oral Aloe Vera. The researchers noted that their facial wrinkles were significantly reduced.
I am sure you will agree that the US National Library of Medicine (NCBI) is worthy of being seen as a trustworthy resource, so if you would like to read up more about this particular study, you can do so here.
Of course, many of us simply find it impossible to constantly and consistently eat a well-balanced diet. I myself am guilty of this, so I am definitely not going to lecture anyone on this, but if you know your diet is not all that great, then I would seriously suggest adding a couple of different high quality supplements to your diet.
We have all read countless times about how important regular exercise is for our health and well-being. I know, we have to do X amount of cardio training today and then do X amount of resistance training the following day, and then who knows what else we have to do. There are many days when I barely have enough time to enjoy a meal at the table with my family, so I would like someone to tell me where I can find time for going for daily strolls or whatever.
The truth is, the vast majority of us can find at least some time for a little bit of exercise, and even a little bit of exercise is better than no exercise at all. You don’t have to spend hours in a gym, and in fact, you don’t even need to visit a gym at all. However, you will be doing yourself a huge favor if you make an effort to get fit and stay fit.
Fitness does not only benefit your overall health. It also benefits your overall appearance as well, and that in turn can vastly improve your self-esteem. None of us can deny the fact that people who keep themselves fit always tend to look healthy and vibrant; they have that special sort of glow.
Good skin care products don’t have to cost you a fortune, but I would also be skeptical about products which are suspiciously cheap. Look for a brand and/or product range that you like, and then devote a bit of your time to researching the product. At the very least, you should pay attention to what sort of ingredients are used in the products which you would like to use. This is always extremely important, and even more so when it comes to products which you intend using on your face.
Given the fact that the cosmetics industry is so poorly controlled and regulated, I would strongly suggest that you stay well away from any products that contain chemicals. Stick with products that contain only high quality natural ingredients. Also, no product can produce overnight miracles, so once you have decided on a particular product or brand, stick with it, at least for a while so that you can see if it is what you were hoping for.
Good skin care products can do wonders for one’s appearance these days, but it all relies on you finding the right products. Anyway, I sincerely hope that you have enjoyed reading this post, and I honestly do hope that you won’t feel the need again to ask yourself, am I beautiful or ugly. Please, I implore you, focus on your own happiness rather than focusing too much on whether others think you are beautiful or not.
